We're coming together on National Housing Day with local residents on rent strike and the Ontario Federation of Labour to call for rent control and an end to loopholes that allow real estate corporations to dodge it.
Right now 600 residents in York South-Weston are on rent strike, struggling against real estate corporate owners Dream Unlimited and Barney River Investments, who are imposing impossible rents as high as 10% every year.
Across Toronto, renters are facing bad-faith evictions, exploitative rents, bedbug and cockroach infestations and backlogged repairs. We expect better than this for our neighbours and our city.
Join hundreds of us on Wednesday November 22 as we march together to the headquarters of corporations Dream Unlimited and Barney River Investments to say enough is enough.
Come to support our neighbours in York South-Weston in their fight for their homes – and stand together with every renter in Toronto that demands better. Please RSVP using the form on this page.
